LOS ANGELES, February 2, 2017 – The best curated car collection, is one that includes vehicles that nearly anyone can have the opportunity to drive – and, with Hagerty’s all-new DriveShare car sharing platform, entrants in the upcoming non-profit Drive Toward a Cure multi-day charity rally needn’t be local nor ship their own vehicles across the country to partake in the May 3-6, 2018 ‘California Adventure.’ With select vehicles located in both Northern and Southern California, the DriveShare program is a great resource for the 2nd annual event that offers two simultaneous departures for entrant vehicles that range from vintage to luxury and exotics. Any Drive Toward a Cure registrant above the age of 30, and is licensed in the United States, can now participate in the DriveShare program.

According to Steve Haas, an executive with DriveShare by Hagerty, the brand has become the nation’s premiere enthusiast car rental community, bringing the “sharing economy” into the car lover’s garage. As part of its newly formed sponsorship with Drive Toward a Cure for the organization’s nationwide events supporting Parkinson’s Disease, DriveShare has created an opportunity for registrants to experience coveted cars while partaking in the 600-700 mile drive and will be providing 100 percent of the company’s service fees and profit from all rental portions engaged during the event directly to Drive Toward a Cure.

California Adventure 2018

The upcoming ‘California Adventure’ is a four-day, three-night luxury rally taking place May 3-6, that for the second year, will provide a weekend of drives, relaxation, wine tasting, camaraderie, great food, great roads, a competitive special stage driving test, and memorable stops along the way – including private tours of priceless car collections. While one group will depart from the Los Angeles area, another will begin in the Monterey Bay region and both will converge at the famed Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort in the Santa Barbara wine region of Central California for the balance of the weekend.

“Having spent many years professionally within the automotive industry, and growing those relationships throughout the decades, it’s been a vision to align our ‘village’ of car enthusiasts with an inspiring way to broaden awareness and funds for a cause that has touched the lives of so many.”
-Deb Pollack, Founder of Drive Toward a Cure

Deb Pollack, founder of Drive Toward a Cure, created the series of driving events, along with her ‘partner in cause’ Mark Davidson of Toronto-based Intelliga Communications, in late 2016 to honor her mother who had been challenged by Parkinson’s and passed away ten years prior, in 2006.

Over the past year, Drive Toward a Cure has raised more than $50,000 to contribute to both the Michael J. Fox Foundation and the Parkinson’s Institute and Clinical Center – providing financial assistance for both research and patient programs. Pollack, whose mantra for the organization is to blend cars and camaraderie, is expanding her organization’s efforts to include localized programs within nationally recognized driving clubs and driving schools to create more fundraising opportunities during the month of April – which is Parkinson’s Awareness Month. Visit the Drive Toward a Cure website for more information on how to participate in a ‘Drive Toward a Cure Day’ in your local area.

Thanks to Hagerty’s DriveShare sponsorship and participation, opportunities to participate in the upcoming ‘California Adventure’ and the much anticipated ‘Northeast Adventure’ this Fall, will help transform the rally
events from regional programs to events that will now appeal to drivers from coast-to-coast and beyond. For the May 2018 program, a special DriveShare curated collection can be found at: http://www.drivetowardacure.org/driveshare/
